HOT SOUP: This is a soup that you might appreciate when the weather gets chilly outside. It is tasty and simple to make.

HEARTY PORK AND PEAS SOUP:

2 pork hocks

1 lb. pkg. dried green peas

10-12 cups water

1 large onion, chopped

1 large potato, peeled and cut into 4 slices

salt and pepper

Put pork hocks, peas, onion and potato into a large heavy saucepan. Add water. Cover pan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer soup for 1 ½ to 2 hours or until peas are tender. Add more boiling water if soup gets too thick. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve in heated bowl with homemade bread.
