PLAIN BOILED BASMATI
RICE:
1 ¾ cups basmati rice,
washed and drained
1 tbsp. ghee or
unsalted butter
3 cups water
¼ salt or to taste
Wash rice through
several changes of water and drain.
In a large pot, heat
ghee or unsalted butter over medium-high heat and cook rice grains thoroughly
for 2-3 minutes.
Add the water and salt
to taste; and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover pot and cook gently
for 15 to 20 minutes.
To serve, fluff the
grains gently with a fork.
