SWEET SAUCES: When peaches are in season in the summer, this recipe will come in handy as a good way to serve stewed peaches as well as a sauce for other desserts.

MAPLE PEACH SAUCE:

4 ripe peaches

2 tbsp. unsalted butter

½ cup maple syrup

1 tbsp. ground ginger, optional

2 tbsp. orange juice or 1 tbsp. orange liqueur

The best way to peel peaches is to immerse them in boiling water for a few seconds. Cool slightly; then peel off skin. Cut peaches into halves, remove stones and slice peaches into thin wedges.

Melt butter in a non-stick skillet placed over medium-high heat. Add peaches and cook until just softened, about 2-4 minutes.

Add maple syrup, orange juice and ginger, if using. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and cook peaches until desired softness.

Serve warm or refrigerated, over pancakes or yogurt.
