APPLE CRUMBLE:
5 to 6 medium-sized tart apples
crumble or crisp topping:
1 cup flour
½ cup
quick-cooking rolled oats
½ cup each brown
sugar & regular granulated sugar
¼ cup butter
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp.
ground cinnamon
Peel, core and slice apples. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease an

Press half of this crumb mixture into the prepared pan.
Spread apple slices on top. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Spoon remaining
crumbs over apples and press down firmly.
Bake 10 minutes. Lower oven temperature to 375 degrees
F. and continue baking until crust is slightly brown, about 30 to 40 minutes.
Remove from oven and serve hot, with vanilla sauce
(see recipe) or ice cream, if preferred.
